Effective date: 27 May 2026 · Version 1.0
Please read these terms carefully. They contain important provisions that limit our liability to you and require you to resolve disputes in South African courts. By creating an account or using the Service you accept and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("you", "your", "User") and GoLedger (Pty) Ltd, a South African company ("GoLedger", "we", "us"). They govern your access to and use of the GoLedger web app, iOS app and related services (together, the "Service").
Our Privacy Policy at /privacyforms part of these Terms.
GoLedger is a personal finance assistant. It helps you record, organise, visualise, forecast, and ask questions about money you tell it about.
GoLedger is NOT:
Any insight, forecast, suggestion, draft message, or category produced by the Service or its AI assistant is for your information only. You are solely responsible for any decision you make using the Service. Consult a licensed professional before making material financial decisions.
You may not, and you may not permit anyone else to:
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules, with or without notice, at our reasonable discretion.
Your content: the financial data, documents, and chat messages you create or upload remain yours. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, transmit, display, and process your content strictly to operate the Service for you. We claim no other rights in your content.
Our content: the GoLedger app, brand, logo, code, interface designs, and documentation are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service in line with these Terms.
The Service relies on third-party processors (Supabase, Anthropic, Google, Apple, Replit, email providers) listed in our Privacy Policy. Your use of those features is also subject to their respective terms. We are not responsible for outages, errors, or changes in third-party services that are outside our reasonable control.
Where the Service offers a paid plan, the current price, billing cycle, and included features are shown in-app at the time of purchase. By starting a subscription you authorise us (or the App Store) to charge the payment method you provided for each billing period until you cancel.
We may label some features "beta", "preview", or "experimental". These features are provided as-is, may change or be removed at any time, and may not have the same uptime or accuracy guarantees as the rest of the Service.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. Your data will be wiped from our production systems as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you materially breach these Terms, if your use of the Service threatens the security or integrity of the Service, or if we are required to do so by law. Where we terminate without cause we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific requirements.
Nothing in these Terms limits any right you may have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other South African law that cannot be excluded.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party will be liable to the other for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the Service in that 12-month period; or (b) ZAR 1,000.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
You agree to indemnify and hold GoLedger, its directors, employees, and agents harmless from any claim, damage, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your breach of these Terms; (b) your misuse of the Service; or (c) your violation of any law or any third-party right.
We improve the Service continuously. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. If we make a material change to these Terms we will notify you inside the app and by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect, except where the change is required by law or to address a security risk in which case we will act sooner and notify you as soon as practicable.
If you do not accept the change you must stop using the Service before the effective date. Continued use after the effective date is your acceptance of the new Terms.
Neither party is liable for any failure or delay caused by an event outside its reasonable control, including acts of state, civil unrest, natural disaster, pandemic, internet outage, or third-party infrastructure failure.
We will send notices to the email address on your account or display them inside the app. Notices to us must be sent to legal@goledger.co.za.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. The parties consent to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Western Cape Division of the High Court of South Africa for any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
Before starting any formal proceedings, both parties will use reasonable efforts to resolve the dispute through good-faith discussions for at least 30 days. Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent interim relief.
